Getting Started FAQ

I have never done CrossFit. How do I get started?

We have a personal Fundamentals program to get you started. It includes six (6) sessions similar to semi-private personal training. During these sessions, you will learn all the movements required to participate in regular CrossFit classes. Completion of Fundamentals is necessary to jump into CrossFit classes.  

What class is suitable for beginners?

All classes!  Every class we offer will have variations for all skill and fitness levels. Our coaches will ensure you are set up for success every time. 

How old do I need to be?

Currently 19 years or older.  Please let us know if you are interested in a teen or kids program.  If we have enough requests, this may be something we can offer in the future.

I’m an experienced CrossFitter - can I drop in?

Absolutely.  Please make an appointment ahead of time, as you will need to complete a waiver, and we will reserve a class time for you.  To drop in, you must have completed a Fundamentals or Foundations program at another CrossFit gym or have at least 3 months of CrossFit experience. 

Will I lose weight?

If that is your goal - yes.  If you are intentional with your diet and fitness, you will start to lean out.  We offer zero get-fit quick promises.  Instead, we offer engaging and interesting workouts that guarantee results and support a lifelong pursuit of well-being and health. 

Will I get stronger and fitter?

Yes. Period. 

What if I can’t do a movement due to range of motion limitation or an injury?

No problem - almost always, we can offer you movement variations.  Our Coaches will guide you through different options during the class. 

Why do people like CrossFit?

There are many reasons!  Various workouts, challenges, meeting new friends and community spirit could only be found inside a CrossFit gym. For our regular members, this often becomes the “best hour of their day”, making them feel better mentally and physically. 

What if I’ve done some fitness before? Do I still need Fundamentals?

It depends.  If you have previous experience in the gym, are able to do some gymnastics and are proficient with the Olympic lifts (snatch, clean & jerk). In that case, we can fast-track you straight into classes, following the initial complimentary session with one of our coaches. However, most people complete the full 6 Fundamentals and are glad they did, as it sets them up for success in classes.  Please send us an email, and we can discuss options.  

I am visiting from out of town. Can I drop in?

If you are an experienced CrossFitter visiting town, to drop in, you must sign our waiver, and we’ll register you for a FREE class.  Please contact us at info@crossfitnewwest.com, and we’ll get you set up.  If you are only going to drop in once, we will not charge you, but we appreciate a nice review on Google and maybe an IG post.  The weekly rate is $75.

Pricing and Memberships FAQ

Do I need to sign a contract?

No. All of our memberships are month-to-month.  We don’t believe we need to force a contractual commitment - members of our community come to the gym because they want to, not because they have committed to a long contract.  Sometimes people move or have another big life event - we get it.  You can cancel anytime with a 30-days notice before your billing date.  We do not process refunds or prorate monthly fees. 

Do you process refunds? 

No.  We invite you to try a complimentary class first to ensure it is an excellent fit for you.  Memberships are month-to-month so email us with 30-days notice if you need to cancel your membership. 

Do you offer discounts for first responders?

No. Our pricing is simple, transparent and consistent for everyone.  We sincerely appreciate everything you do for our community, as we appreciate our healthcare professionals, teachers, small business owners, veterans and single mothers, you get the idea…

How can I pay? 

We accept all major credit cards and pre-authorized bank payments.  We do not accept Cash.
